Walfredo Meleán

I'm Walfredo Meleán, a Miami-based photographer with more than 25 years behind the camera. I started in analog photography, working with medium and large format cameras and spending long hours in the darkroom, where I learned to print as an artist, especially in black and white. That craft is still at the core of everything I shoot.

Teaching has been a constant: I've led photography workshops and taught at colleges, and my work has been shown in multiple group exhibitions. Teaching shaped the way I work: I plan every shoot around where the images will live, I light with intent, and I can explain every choice I make.

Today I shoot the full range, from people and corporate headshots to food and products, interiors, live music and events, alongside my own documentary work. Every image is finished in-house with high-end retouching: precise color, clean skin and surfaces, and natural results that hold up in print, on screens and in large formats.
